Garmin 76 Great On Land Or At Sea

Wow! Garmin 76 is one versatile GPS system that can be used on land or at sea. A hand held unit weighing in at 0.2kg and measuring 15.7 cm high by 6.9 cm wide, if you're looking for a GPS system that can keep you updated and informed while you enjoy a variety of different activities, then pretty much this is the GPS system for you.

When taken to sea, this waterproof tough unit can not only help you get from A to B while on the water but by way of the sophisticated nautical navigation aids that are features of this unit, it can also give you up to date information about tidal changes, buoys, sunrise and sunset times and day beacons. Not only that it has a built in current speed route calculator, a shallow/deep alarm and a host of other features all designed to keep the user safe and on track while on water.

What has to be crucial though with a unit that can be used on water, is that it is waterproof. Well the Garmin 76 is waterproof and what's more, if it is dropped in water it will not only keep on working after you fish it out, but the unit will also float for you making recovering it that much easier.

The accuracy of the Garmin 76 is pretty amazing too and is in fact accurate to within 3 meters. This is because this unit uses WAAS or Wide Area Augmentation System. WAAS is simply the working together of satellites and ground base stations that allows any unit that can make use of this system, with the corrections and data needed for better positioning and ultimate navigation accuracy. What's great about the WAAS system is that there is no need to buy any further equipment or pay a fee to use this system. Once a unit is configured, WASS comes free to use as standard.

The larger than normal screen that the G 76 uses means that it is very user friendly and the unit gives a clear and visible display back to the user. Not only that, although the unit comes preloaded with some maps and information, the large 8 MG of memory space of this GPS system means that POI – points of interests – plus any additional maps that might be needed, can be downloaded in detail online and then uploaded to the unit.

The Garmin 76 is truly an action packed system that has been designed to be used for the more rugged outdoor activities such as boating, fishing, hunting and climbing.
