If there's one thing that keeps many couples from going away alone together, it's got to be the cost. Plane tickets and gas of course are both much more expensive than they have ever been, and there's the added cost of a room, admission to museums and other attractions, and eating out. So what about cheap romantic getaways? How can you save some money on that precious time away without compromising the enjoyment of your vacation or romantic rendezvous? There are some ways to plan and enjoy cheap romantic getaways if you know how.

For one thing remember that there are often many choices for anything you're trying to plan; tropical paradises can be found in Florida or California, which may mean a cheaper plane ticket than Hawaii or Cancun. Planning cheap romantic getaways will mean considering these "second choices." You might even need to forego the tropical paradise altogether and head for a nearby lake or coastline instead. Those who live in the Midwestern part of the United States can try anywhere near the Great Lakes, where you can find many resorts that revolve around endless water sports. Tropical cheap romantic getaways can also be planned for Arizona or Texas; these spots are usually much more affordable than Fiji or Bora Bora. 

Accommodations will also be a big part of cheap romantic getaways. Try a cabin by the lake instead of a luxury hotel. A bed and breakfast may not be the same as a spa but this type of establishment can offer a beautiful and comfortable room for the two of you. Sometimes cheap romantic getaways will mean giving up those amenities that you get at a luxury hotel but if you appreciate what you can afford you're going to have a wonderful vacation.

A bed and breakfast is usually very restful and the cabin at the lake can offer some amazing landscapes and even some wildlife to enjoy. You can also find many things to do during the day for these types of cheap romantic getaways. Hiking, biking, canoeing, kayaking, horseback riding, fishing, and sightseeing are all probably going to be much less expensive than admissions to museums or amusement parks. These types of activities are also typically more relaxing and give the two of you a chance to reconnect with each other.

Getting back to nature may be just the thing you need to help recharge your batteries and get you rested. If you're determined to enjoy yourself you probably will, but if you're resentful and bitter that's a surefire way to chase away the romance and spoil the entire trip!
