What to do in Barbados

Barbados is an island made of limestone that is only 166 square miles, but do not let its size turn you away from planning your next Caribbean vacation. The island is surrounded by the Atlantic Ocean on one side, and the Caribbean Sea to the other. Not only is the island abundant in beauty it is also rich in history. There is something to do for everyone whether it includes a fast paced adventure trip, or a relaxing getaway.

Water sports are very popular on the island. Wind surfing, kite boarding, and surfing are done throughout Barbados since the waves around the southern coasts are especially excellent for doing such activities. The most popular beaches for doing these sports are Long Beach, Silver Sands, and Siler Rock. Swimming is safe on the west and south coasts, whereas the other sides of the coasts are the Atlantic Ocean areas where you will need to be safer since the currents are unpredictable.

The island offers many tourist attractions to choose from. If you enjoy art, you will be in glory since the island has a large art community which has many items for sale in galleries across the country. There are various organized tours available that will take you around the island, or if you want to explore on your own, you can grab a map and hire a car. You will be able to view beautiful tropical gardens, and take a rest at one of the many white sandy beaches.

Some of the world’s best restaurants are located on the island and should not be missed. The night does not have to end after dinner. There are many places to dance till’ dawn. Other clubs have a European feel to them that are indoors and with air condition to not get overheated while you dance. One such club is Club Extreme that is found on the south coast main road.

When planning your vacation to the Caribbean consider Barbados. The island offers many activities to indulge you. When it is snowy and 10 degrees at home, keep in mind that Barbados never falls below 75 degrees and has beautiful beaches waiting for you.
